Hi, I’m Rachel — hairstylist, salon owner, and product developer with a passion for low-tox, sustainable beauty that truly performs.
Remy hair reacts to everything you put on it.
That’s what makes it look so natural. It moves, absorbs, and behaves exactly like your own hair — because it is human hair.
It’s also why the wrong products do real damage. Not dramatically. Quietly. Over time.
At Long Hair Forever, every set is 100% Remy human hair, small-batch and ethically sourced. Here’s how to protect that investment.
Sulfate-Free Shampoo Sulfates strip. They’re designed to. That’s fine for some hair — not for extensions. Look for sulfate-free on the label before anything else.
Lightweight Moisturizing Conditioner Your extensions don’t get natural oils from a scalp. Moisture has to come from product. Mid-shaft to ends only — never on the weft. Lightweight so it nourishes without weighing the hair down.
Heat Protectant Our extensions are 100% Remy human hair — you can curl, wave, and straighten them. But heat protectant is non-negotiable. Every time. No exceptions.
Alcohol-Free Serums and Finishing Sprays Light serum or shine spray = smoother hair, better blend, longer-lasting style. Just make sure it’s alcohol-free. Alcohol dries over time and creates the exact frizz you’re trying to avoid.
Dry Shampoo — On Your Roots Only Apply to your natural roots. Not the extensions. Not the wefts. Used correctly it extends your style without any buildup on the hair itself.
Sulfates Sodium lauryl sulfate. Sodium laureth sulfate. Both strip the cuticle over time. Both shorten the life of your set. Get familiar with these names — they’re in more products than you’d think.
Heavy Oils on the Weft Oils on the ends = beautiful. Oils directly on the weft = loosened thread over time. Ends only, always.
High-Alcohol Styling Products If alcohol is listed near the top of the ingredients, put it back. It dries, it dulls, it ages the hair faster than anything else.
Clarifying Shampoos These strip everything — including the moisture your extensions need to stay soft. Keep them away from your set entirely.
Box Dye Our Remy extensions can be professionally colored. Box dye is too unpredictable and the developers are too harsh. See a colorist who works with extensions.
If you wouldn’t use it on color-treated hair, don’t use it on your extensions.
Gentle. Moisturizing. Alcohol-free. Clean ingredients. That’s it.
Good hair. Good values.
